Hematology is the branch of medicine that focuses on the study of blood, blood-forming organs, and blood disorders. It plays a crucial role in diagnosis, treatment, and management of various diseases, including anemia, infections, clotting disorders, and blood cancers. Haematological tests assess the quantity, quality, and functionality of blood components such as red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), platelets, and plasma proteins.
Clinical pathology branch includes study of blood, urine, and other body fluid samples under a microscope, or with other diagnostic tools. They study levels of certain chemicals or other substances in the body. A diagnosis or decision to do further study is then made based on the test results.
